The sacraments
Marking the turning points of a life
The sacraments are the ordinary ways in which God meets us at the great moments of our lives — and in the middle of quite unremarkable weeks too. Whatever you are asking about, the simplest thing is to speak to the parish priest, who will be glad to help.
Confirmation
Preparation classes are held at regular intervals for adults and young people alike. Please ask the parish priest for further information.
Holy Matrimony
Weddings usually take place on Saturdays. For further details, including the legal requirements and what is possible if you live outside the parish, please contact the parish priest.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
A priest can be available to hear confessions on Mondays at 6.45pm, or by appointment at another time.
Home Communion
The Blessed Sacrament is reserved in church and can be brought by appointment to the sick and housebound, by a priest or by a Lay Minister of Communion.
Sacrament of the Sick
Laying on of hands and anointing, by arrangement — whether before an operation, during a long illness, or at the end of life.
Funerals
Please contact the parish priest for arrangements. He will meet you, talk through the service with you, and there is no charge for his time or for the church at a funeral of a parishioner.
