Children & young people
Growing up at St John’s
Children are welcome at every service — noise and movement included. Alongside that, two groups meet through the month, and our preschool uses the hall during the week.
Sunday Eagles
Ages 3–10. Meets at 9.45am in the Church Hall on the third Sunday of the month, term-time only.

SJ Ignite
Ages 10 and upwards — formerly known as Survivors. Fun, fellowship and food. Meets at 5pm in the Church Hall on the first Sunday of the month.

St John’s Preschool
Ages 2–5. Our preschool runs from the church hall and has its own website with full details of sessions and registration.
Several members of SJ Ignite serve at the Sunday Mass, and in the appropriate seasons we are usually treated to thought-provoking dramatic versions of the Easter and Nativity stories, given their own individual touches to bring them to life. We are very proud of them and the part they play in the life of St John’s. See them in the gallery.

Groups through the week
Bible Study
Usually held in church on Mondays at 3pm. Check the latest pewsheet for details before setting out.
Social Group
Organises various social activities in the parish through the year. For further information contact the churchwardens.
Badminton Club
Meets at 7.30pm in the Church Hall on Mondays.

The Mothers’ Union at St John’s
Sadly, St John’s branch of the Mothers’ Union closed early in 2017, owing to falling numbers of members.
A report on the history of the branch from 1998 until its closure was written by Ann Webb, the branch leader for many of those years, and we are glad to keep it here as part of the parish record.

Whether you have been coming for fifty years or have never been inside a church before, there is a place for you at St John’s. Come as you are — you will not be singled out or asked to explain yourself, and someone will be glad to see you.
